Overall information
Combined Heat and Power (CHP) uses the deployed power very efficiently, due to the generation of electricity (power) and heat. Thus, degrees of efficiency up to 90 per cent can be achieved. 1/3 of energy consumption is cut down, contrary to a separate generation of electricity and heat.

Smaller CHP plants frequently refer to as block heat and power plants, consisting of an engine activating a generator producing electricity. Also the waste heat of the engine is used.

Essential for these applications is the requirement of heat close to the CHP plants. Electricity is relatively simple to transport, heat is far more expensive over longer distances – mostly done by district heating pipelines.

Our range of services
Both managing directors of PROFES worked a long time in this industry for Austria’s largest privately owned district heating company - Österreichische Fernwärmegesellschaft - realising and supervising CHP projects. Furthermore both were employed at AE&E, Siemens, and Fernwärme Wien in the same industry.

That’s why PROFES is the competent partner for you!
